Omar is a Campaign Director & Campaign Lead at Purpose’s US office, leveraging over 15 years of experience spanning political advocacy, community organizing, and narrative development. He centers intersectionality, authentic storytelling and asset-based leadership as vehicles for movement building, working with impacted stakeholders to drive high-impact grassroots action. Working across Labs and Agency at Purpose, a few of Omar’s recent projects have included delivering campaigns on immigrant and migrant inclusion for the Global Forum on Migration and Development, research and strategy on digital threats to society for Luminate, and training on narrative change for organizations selected for the Voices for Economic Opportunity Incubator.

He mobilized activists on issues across the financial and tech sectors including algorithmic bias, discriminatory pricing, student debt, net neutrality, and data privacy. Previously, he was the national coordinator for Cities for Action, a coalition of mayors and municipal leaders advocating for immigration and refugee-related reforms at the federal and local level. Omar’s campaign work is rooted in his experience as an organizer; among his many roles, he has worked with the NYC LGBT Center and Public Allies to develop and support community-based leaders on issues relating to foster care, fair housing, and homeless services.

Omar has a Masters of Social Work from the City University of New York at Hunter College and a BFA in Film & Television from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Having worked at Paramount Pictures, New Regency Productions, and the Doha Film Institute, Omar is still passionate about the power of filmmaking and you may find him tinkering on a screenplay or two.
