Purpose Kenya is based in Westlands, Nairobi.

Purpose Kenya works on a broad range of issues, including youth and governance, renewable energy and women’s health. This is the hub from which we build and support movements such as JIACTIVATE and InPower, and partner with leading non-profits and foundations such as Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, IKEA, and Kenya Red Cross.

George Mwangala

Associate Campaign Director

As Associate Campaign Director, George brings together expertise in public mobilization, strategic communication, excellent lobbying skills and a passion for climate justice and social change.

George has more than 8 years of experience in campaigning, lobbying for policy change and movement building. He is enthusiastic about creatively engaging and motivating the public to raise their voices and take action for social change.

Before joining Purpose, he worked at Christian Aid as a Big Shift Campaign Assistant for Africa Region. Prior to Christian Aid, George worked with Kenya Youth Climate Network where he spearheaded the We have Faith, Act now for climate justice cycling caravan from Mozambique to Nairobi and the Peoples March in 2015 ahead of COP 21.  He has also been involved in countless global campaigns and advocacy activities designed to ensure a just world.

George is a graduate of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and attended the Sunnmøre Folkehøgskule. He is also an alumnus of the Fredskorpset and Communication for Change programs.

In his spare time George gets out to enjoy nature or can be found watching a thriller TV show.

Joshua Chibuyi

Project Manager

Pronouns: he / him

Joshua is the Project Manager for Purpose Climate Lab Kenya. He brings ease of workflow throughout the project lifecycle, serving as a primary source of reference for all tactical and operational questions from project partners. With a background in management, communication, and stakeholder engagement; he drives engagement with partners to achieve maximum project impact. 

Before joining Purpose, Joshua led projects at Signify Foundation that delivered sustainable clean energy access eco-systems to underserved communities across Africa and Asia. He was part of the team that organized and ran international good deeds campaigns that involved 316 Signify employees across different geographies. Prior to Signify, Joshua had coordinated DFID funded projects at Pamoja Trust, building capacity to youth and women with essential livelihood skills. He is among the pioneers of Youth 4 Climate Change Initiative (Y4CC), that creates sustainable climate solutions in local  communities.  

Joshua graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam with a MSc. in Urban Management and Development, with a major focus in Sustainability and Climate Change.

Outside of work, Joshua enjoys listening to country music, playing  instruments, reading,  and  watching nature documentaries.
