This summer, in an effort to shine the spotlight on great, emerging American innovators, AOL founder Steve Case created the “Rise of the Rest” tour. This four-city bus tour stopped in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cincinnati and Nashville to highlight the impact entrepreneurship is having across the country outside of the well-known hot spots of New York City and Silicon Valley.

The Rise of the Rest tour sought to inspire entrepreneurs and investors to continue in the American tradition of growing meaningful businesses from the ground up. The tour also aimed to source deal flow in target cities and build a movement of people to engage and galvanize support for business investment and policy. It was an opportunity for startups to garner support from local communities and support their local communities in return.

But before the tour could take off, Steve Case needed to bring his ideas and philosophy for the tour to life and get folks excited for the official launch. So where did his team go? Purpose! Knowing a great idea when we see one, we were excited to sit down with Steve at his office in DC to hear about how this idea and bus tour came to be. After the interview, we went to the drawing board—literally—and decided to bring the story to life with some feel good tunes, dynamic animation and of course a little Purpose flare. The end result was a launch video we couldn’t wait to help Steve share with the world.

The tour might be over, but the excitement, and movement to support the Rise of the Rest, lives on.
