Purpose is proud to have been selected as a host company for NewCo New York for the second consecutive year, joining a list of innovative and inspiring companies such as City Harvest, TED, Mashable, General Assembly, and Codecademy, among others. On Thursday, May 14, guests from the NewCo NYC festival visited the Purpose office to get an inside look and learn more about our company’s story and work.

Purpose Partnerships Manager Maxwell Zorick welcomed guests with an introduction to our work and model for driving impact. He said of the experience, “This has been a unique opportunity for us to connect with employees and businesses in the neighborhood and throughout the city.”

Simon Duncan-Watt, Purpose’s Head of Content, showed some of our creative work and talked about its role in shifting perceptions, elevating key issues, and mobilizing people to take action. Rachna Govani, Co-Founder of Foodstand, a Purpose incubation, shared insights on consumer behavior as it relates to making decisions on “good food.” Given Foodstand’s upcoming launch, Rachna found the opportunity for live feedback especially valuable, saying “I enjoyed sharing the Foodstand story with the NewCo visitors because it’s not every day that we get time in front of unbiased, new faces who can ask tough and thoughtful questions about our work. It was a refreshing experience.”

NewCo describes its host companies as being “on a mission to create all types of positive change in the world” and believing that “work can be rewarding beyond a paycheck or profit – work can be a purposeful expression of both individual creativity, as well as common purpose.”  Beyond the surface level synergy implied by the choice of descriptive words here, Purpose strongly aligns with these values and is honored to have hosted an experiential NewCo session again this year.
