Purpose Kenya is based in Westlands, Nairobi.

Purpose Kenya works on a broad range of issues, including youth and governance, renewable energy and women’s health. This is the hub from which we build and support movements such as JIACTIVATE and InPower, and partner with leading non-profits and foundations such as Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, IKEA, and Kenya Red Cross.

Caroline Wambui

Project Manager, Purpose Climate Lab

Caroline Wambui is a Project Manager for Purpose Climate Lab, Kenya office. Her role brings ease of workflow support for developing campaigns and strategies, ensuring maximum impact.

She has been a Global change-maker for over 12 years having championed for Youth Inclusion in the Climate Justice arena in Kenya and East Africa. Carol has also represented Kenya in The African Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN) as the Youth Vice Chairperson. She has developed recommendations that have been included in the AMCEN communiqué’s. Under the Kenya Youth Climate Network (KYCN), she has helped run the only African Youth Climate Justice caravan from Kenya to South Africa for The 17th Session of The Conference of Parties (COP 17), helped set up a youth platform in Tanzania called ‘Youth-Can’ and has worked with UNEP as a youth communication attaché. She has also been a fellow with Heinrich Boll Foundation focusing on Environment and Climate Justice. Carol has also worked with PAWA 254 to run leadership and governance campaigns in Kenya.

Carol has a Communication for Development degree and has co-founded MindMe International that speaks to social justice issues, rehabilitating public spaces dubbed ‘Miti Mtaani initiative’ and climate justice. If she is not changing the world through advocacy and act-vocacy, you will find her passionately singing.

George Mwangala

Campaigner

As a Campaigner, George brings together expertise in public mobilization, strategic communication, excellent lobbying skills and a passion for climate justice and social change.

George has more than 8 years of experience in campaigning, lobbying for policy change and movement building. He is enthusiastic about creatively engaging and motivating the public to raise their voices and take action for social change.

Before joining Purpose, he worked at Christian Aid as a Big Shift Campaign Assistant for Africa Region. Prior to Christian Aid, George worked with Kenya Youth Climate Network where he spearheaded the We have Faith, Act now for climate justice cycling caravan from Mozambique to Nairobi and the Peoples March in 2015 ahead of COP 21.  He has also been involved in countless global campaigns and advocacy activities designed to ensure a just world.

George is a graduate of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and attended the Sunnmøre Folkehøgskule. He is also an alumnus of the Fredskorpset and Communication for Change programs.

In his spare time George gets out to enjoy nature or can be found watching a thriller TV show.

Holly Bantleman

Associate Campaign Director

Holly Bantleman is an Associate Campaign Director for Purpose. She is an experienced leader with a demonstrated history of building and growing organizations and public mobilization movements with government and marginalized communities. Before joining Purpose, Holly founded "Raise the Roof," an independent organization improving access to vocational training and employment opportunities for youth and rural communities in Kenya, and she has consulted for the International Development Committee as a tertiary education area expert. 


Holly has an MSc in Practical Sustainable Development with a focus on governance, gender, social justice, and participation. With an early career in the television industry, Holly now combines her experience to create engaging content to drive people to advance social change.

 

Holly’s work has been recognized through several high profile awards such as The Queen’s Young leaders, The UK Government Point of Light, and The Pride of Britain.
