The Team Refugees video was entered in the Internet Video: Public Service and Activism category for its role in raising the profile of the global refugee crisis during the 2016 Olympics. The video was awarded a Silver Lovie from the judges, as well as the People’s Lovie by receiving the most votes from the public.

Watch Abdalla’s journey as an athlete and how he was motivated by Team Refugees- and see for yourself why this video is one of the best public service and activism videos on the internet!

The Team Refugees campaign was able to educate and inspire a new audience around the refugee crisis through an unexpected lens: the universal appeal of sport. Team Refugees brought world leaders, celebrities and fans together to support the world’s first Olympics team of refugees, propelling the conversation about refugee issues onto a global stage.

Huge thanks to Adballa, the Team Refugees campaign, UNICEF, UNIT9, the Lovie Awards, and all those who made this video and campaign possible.
