Purpose is thrilled to have received recent recognition by some of the leading award institutions in the social impact sector, including The Lovie Awards, The Drum Social Purpose Awards, and Third Sector Digital Awards. The campaigns recognized by these awards have been lauded for their ability to amplify crucial social issues in ways that make the issues accessible, while driving participation and impact.

In the 2020 Lovie Awards, Purpose & Freedom from Torture were awarded both the People’s Choice Lovie and a Bronze Lovie in the category of Advertising for Public Service & Activism for Freedom from Torture’s Do What We Can campaign.

The Do What We Can Campaign was a rapid response fundraising campaign to protect the most vulnerable at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK — torture survivors who were living on just £5 a day. Purpose and Freedom from Torture co-created a fundraising campaign that would raise money for the organisation’s emergency relief fund — a pool of funds that provides direct financial support to torture survivors during their greatest times of need.  The campaign raised over £220k in Freedom from Torture’s most successful appeal to date, supporting Freedom from Torture’s mission to empower torture survivors and rebuild lives.

“This year’s Lovie Winners represent the best of the European Internet, at a time when the Internet is more important than ever,” said The Lovie Awards. “The Lovie winners show that digital creativity and innovation abound even in the face of a global pandemic.”

Purpose was also recognized in The 2020 Drum Social Purpose Awards, the awards for socially responsible marketing. The Verified campaign received the Highly Commended designation for Best Social Media Campaign

Verified is a global partnership with the United Nations Secretary General to fight misinformation on COVID-19 by flooding the internet with science, solutions, and solidarity. The Social Purpose Awards celebrates all modern-day marketing which is driving forward socially responsible marketing, brand purpose and a truer representation of society today. It celebrates socially responsible marketing, brand purpose campaigns and work that has been executed to achieve positive outcomes that will make a difference. The Awards are underpinned by The Drum, one of the world’s largest marketing platforms. Verified was also a finalist in the Best Not for Profit Campaign category.

Earlier this year, Purpose’s partnership with Freedom from Torture on the Do What We Can Campaign also received a Highly Commended designation in the 2020 Third Sector Digital Awards for Best Online Fundraising Campaign.

The Third Sector Digital Awards reflect the transformational role that digital now plays in the charity and voluntary sector. The awards recognise excellence by celebrating projects that have shown innovation in this space.

Purpose is honored to be recognized by these award institutions alongside incredible work in the sector, as we all work to adapt, innovate, and create positive change during such a challenging time. Congratulations to all the winners.
