Over the past few years Purpose has grown significantly in both its organizational footprint and its impact, with our staff now spread across 12 countries. In parallel with that growth, Purpose has developed a partner model – a group of leaders that act as stewards for the organization’s strategy and mission and collectively manage our day-to-day operations. We are excited to share some updates to Purpose’s leadership team and introduce two new Purpose Partners who will be central to shaping our future impact:

  • After more than a decade launching and leading Purpose from its earliest stages to its current 200-person global team, our co-founder Jeremy Heimans will be transitioning from CEO to Chairman of Purpose. This formalizes an evolution of his role over the past several years as Purpose’s Partner group has grown and taken responsibility for day-to-day leadership. As Chairman he will continue to advise Purpose’s leadership, help develop new frontiers of impact for the organization, and be a key external ambassador and thought leader on behalf of Purpose around the world.
  • We are happy to announce that Simon Goff, our COO, is stepping into the role of CEO through this transitional phase for the organization. Simon will be based in London for the next two years where he will work alongside the Purpose Partners and other leaders across the world. Having been instrumental in the international expansion of Purpose across Europe and the Asia Pacific, Simon understands the power that people have to effect change, and the role that culture, creativity, and storytelling plays to inspire audiences to take action on the critical issues we are facing. He also has a keen understanding of the infrastructure needed to support the growth of the organization into its next era. During this time, he will also lead the search for a long-term CEO before returning to Australia where he and his family are based.
  • We are excited to announce that our Head of Office, India, Harpreet Bagga has been elected to become a Partner at Purpose. Harpreet joined Purpose in 2020 to head up our India operations. Since then she has overseen the growth of that office and built key portfolios of work across the climate and health sectors. In this role, she will be taking on an expanded portfolio that includes leading our global climate work and supporting the growth of several of our regions. Harpreet’s background includes time in management consulting, corporate finance, non-profit advisory, and philanthropic investments, with experience spanning gender justice, adolescence, sanitation, education, health and climate.
  • In April, we will be welcoming Dr. Gerry Power to Purpose as a Partner. Gerry is one of the leading international experts in communications for social change and behavior change. Over his career he has partnered with multilaterals, foundations and NGOs to design and deliver critical social impact communication and campaign research, insights and evaluation. Gerry joins us from M&C Saatchi World Services Group where he served as Chief Research Officer. He also served as COO of InterMedia Research and Consulting Europe and Director of Research and Learning at BBC Media Action, establishing an award-winning global research network across Africa, Asia and the Middle East. He has taught at various universities including UCLA, UDLAP (Mexico), the University of Texas and the London School of Economics.

Harpreet and Gerry join Simon, Ilyse Hogue, Keno Sadler, and Jon Damon to form the Purpose global Partner team that are collectively responsible for shaping the long term trajectory of our work around the world.
