We are thrilled to announce that Adam Fetcher has joined us as a Senior Advisor in the United States. Adam brings an incredible depth of talent built over a prestigious career across policy and politics, with senior roles in President Obama’s administration and campaigns, and in business, with deep communications, brand and advocacy experience at companies including Patagonia and Lyft.

At Purpose, we’ve always believed that businesses have a critical role to play in using their power to support the world’s biggest movements for change. As we collectively look towards ensuring a sustainable and equitable recovery from the global pandemic, that role has never been more pressing.

As a Senior Advisor, Adam will be working with our team to expand Purpose’s work supporting businesses to go beyond the rhetoric to create meaningful, long-term change – delivering positive social and business impact, hand in hand. This builds on our work over the last 11 years with companies including Unilever, Nike, Starbucks, IKEA, Airbnb, and Danone.

As Laura Quinn, Purpose’s Private Sector Lead, put it: “As soon as we met Adam, we knew he was the perfect addition to our team. His career highlights are testament to the passion and intelligence he brings to supporting business leaders to deliver with purpose and impact. We’re sure he’ll fast become a trusted partner to our clients and an invaluable thought leader as we evolve and grow our corporate practice this year.”

Adam’s career sits at the intersection of business, politics and advocacy. Most recently, Adam served as Senior Director of Brand Advocacy at Lyft, where he developed and launched LyftUp, a comprehensive platform for social impact, advocacy and customer engagement. As Director of Global Communications at Patagonia, Adam played a key role in evolving the company’s famous activist voice for a modern media environment in order to grow Patagonia’s sharp edge as a leader in corporate advocacy and innovation – during a period of historic growth for the business and unprecedented customer mobilization for the brand. Before entering business, Adam served in several top communications positions in President Barack Obama’s campaigns and administration, including Deputy National Press Secretary for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, Press Secretary for the U.S. Department of the Interior, and others.

Adam, based in San Francisco, will serve in his Senior Advisor role at Purpose in addition to his personal practice, Big Future Mission & Message.

About joining Purpose, Adam said: “When I first met the team at Purpose, I felt an instant philosophical connection. I’m uncompromising in my belief that business has a vital role to play in supporting the most urgent movements of our time, from climate change to racial justice to internet freedom and more. As a group of activists, not marketers, I know that Purpose is uniquely qualified to help organizations harness and mobilize collective energy to achieve meaningful, lasting change, which is absolutely the best route to building a modern brand that matters during a time of immense challenges.”
