Easily the coolest 15-year-old on the planet, Xiuhtezcatl Martinez has been dubbed the anti-Bieber. He’s a hip-hop climate change activist who fronts the nonprofit organization Earth Guardians. This past June, he was invited to speak to the UN General Assembly about how vital it is that world leaders act on climate change now. You can learn more about his impassioned work in this video. We recently had the chance to ask him a few questions…

What do you do?
I am building a global movement of youth at the forefront of our environmental and climate crisis, supporting them to step up as leaders to co-create the future we deserve to inherit!

Why are you compelled to do it?
Once you have the knowledge I have and understand the kind of world we are leaving to future generations, you can do nothing but become a leader and fight for those yet to come and those who have no voice.

What do you want the world to look like in 5 years?
I want to see the world come to a binding climate agreement at COP21 so we can begin to lower our carbon, reforest our Earth and heal our environment.

What good will you do today?
I will lead by example and inspire others to become leaders.
