The 6th Annual Women in Green Forum which has emerged as the premier conference series highlighting women’s impact on the environmental industry, was held in Santa Monica, California on August 26th.  Joining a list of speakers from leading NGOs, government, and Fortune 500 companies, Purpose’s Director of Content Development, Jessica Lauretti, spoke on a panel called “Building a Movement: Digital campaigns for climate change action.” Panelists included:

• Jen Boynton, Editor-in-Chief, TriplePundit.com
• Natasha Nummedal, Director of Advocacy, Care2.com
• Jessica Lauretti, Head of Content Development + Strategy, Purpose
• Lauren Meling, Senior Digital Manager, The Climate Reality Project

Jessica added to the discussion some key insights on developing a strategic message, using storytelling to communicate and then mobilizing people across platforms to reach niche audiences with authentic voices. She also spoke on how to apply movement thinking to content by shifting your audience from passive viewers to participants and activating them around your issue area or brand. On this movement building piece, she added: “Audiences want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Give them something to be passionate about and contribute to that can highlight how individual action creates a collective impact. Then, watch the power of participation at work!”
