The Purpose Climate Lab spent 14 days at COP22 in Marrakech, Morocco. We descended on the UN Climate Conference with one mission: Tell the powerful story of global momentum towards climate solutions.

In all, we produced more than 50 pieces of unbranded digital content available for the use of all climate and social justice story tellers. That content was shared almost 100,000 times and was seen more than 50 million times, across a number of social media outlets and across a swath of partner pages.

We seized this international climate moment to create innovative unbranded content balancing the real time partner work we were doing within the climate community with content creation designed to broadcast to the world at large what the climate community was so obsessed about in Marrakech.

What were we all so obsessed about? We were obsessed with countries ratifying the Paris Agreement. Last year Presidents Obama and Jinping of China, enouraged leaders from across the globe to agree to not only put the cap on the growth of global warming at 1.5°C, but to lower global emissions and transition global energy economies to clean and renewable energy by 2050.

But because these lofty goals have life or death consequences for millions of people across the globe and effect the very survival and existence of many low-lying island nations, we hustled and networked and had a million coffees to discover and lift up the best stories and messages we could find. The result was having our content shared by a host of people and organizations across the globe who share our dedication to climate solutions.

We leaned into our sweet spot and worked to translate all that political policy and climate science minutiae into content that was digestible and approachable by the masses. In the end our content was shared close to 100,000 times by those in the climate movement, the social justice sector at large, the business community, the entertainment industry and just thousands of humans who love memes. Who doesn’t love memes!?! What a time to be alive!

It was an honor and an absolute pleasure to have collaborated with and supported the work of so many amazing organizations. And hey, keep your eyes peeled when next you’re perusing your Facebook timeline; you’re probably engaging with some of our content as we speak!
