2.5 billion people in the world – the combined population of India and China – have poor vision and no means of improving it. It’s the number one form of disability in the world. 700 years after glasses were invented, we’ve forgotten about this most basic need.

In April, Purpose helped launch Clearly with the support of renowned champions including Hadeel Ibrahim, Neil Blumenthal and Sir David Tang. Building momentum through events throughout the year, Clearly is a movement to rally global audiences to solve a challenge the world has forgotten – that 2.5 billion people lack access to eye care.

The colorful, energetic brand was designed to capture the imaginations of students and industry experts alike through two flagship activations – The Clearly Vision Prize and Clearly Labs.

Following the launch of the campaign, the Clearly Vision Prize opened to entrepreneurs around the world. The Prize is an ideas competition for supply chain experts, data wizards and techies who have knowledge and technologies that can be applied to vision in innovative new ways. The very best ideas – those that have the potential to transform the way we deliver vision to all – will compete for $250,000 in prizes and one-on-one mentoring opportunities to make them a reality.

This month, the very first Clearly Lab will be held at a secret location in Hong Kong. Invites were sent out to some of the region’s sharpest minds to try to tackle the problem the world forgot: how can everyone see? The Clearly Labs will be making appearances around the world this year. At each event, Clearly will be calling on some of the world’s most inspiring thinkers to reimagine the way we deliver vision solutions.

Soon, Clearly will also be sharing all the information needed to organize self-hosted Clearly Labs at schools, university and social impact organizations.
